Wireless Washtenaw Update and Public Forum – March 26, 2007

“Pre-Deployment” activities are underway by 20/20 Communications and Siemens. The major components of this phase are: (1) identify areas where system backhaul is needed to Ann Arbor, and where to mount the necessary radios and other equipment, (2) complete a radio frequency survey to determine where interference issues may exist, and (3) design the network based on the pilot program experience and the results of the first two activities above. This will be a major activity in March.

A Wireless Washtenaw Public Forum is scheduled for Monday, March 26th at 7:00 PM at the Manchester High School auditorium, located at 20500 Dutch Drive in Manchester. The forum will include representatives from the County’s Wireless Washtenaw team, a speaker from the county ISD, who will speak on educational impacts of Wireless Washtenaw, and representatives from 20/20 Communications and Siemens. There will be a formal presentation on the program, its objectives, how it will work and the schedule for deployment. There will be a question and answer period. Demonstrations of the system will be available, as well as information for registering for future service. There will be further advertising in the Manchester community (article in Manchester Enterprise, banner in the village, 20/20 presence at a local coffee shop the week prior), before the event.
